Biography
Captain William T. Cherry Jr. (1915-2000) of Abilene, Texas, was the pilot of a B-17 that ditched in the South Pacific on October 21, 1942. Cherry, Captain Eddie Rickenbacker, and five other passengers survived for three weeks, adrift at sea, before being rescued.
