This accession consists of material generated from James Hammersmith's academic career at both the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Auburn University from 1971 to 2002. It primarily contains research notes, scholarly correspondence, essays, and literary prints. These items cover Hammersmith's numerous academic projects and endeavors, which include the works of William Shakespeare, variations and proofreading in reprinted publications of different books, and pieces of early modern literature.
