Cut Shirt-tail from Flight Training Shirt belonging to William A. Chapman. Flight School for API, Instructor A.L. Lumpkin, Time 10 minute Solo Flight on March, 2, 1941 at Auburn Airport, AL.(handwritten on collar). Tradition is other pilots cut piece of shirttail to carry with them on their flights for good luck. Chapman did the same and had fabric pieces of other pilots shirts. There are two scraps of fabric from other pilots in left breast pocket.
