Scope and Contents

From the Accession:

Contains the project and office files of Truman Pierce during his tenure as a professor in, and later Dean of, the College of Education at Auburn University. Also included are notes of his work as an advisor to school districts throughout the state of Alabama including Mobile and DeKalb County. The minutes and publications of several state and national committees and many of Pierce’s own publications are also included. Large portions of Pierce’s papers are devoted to establishing teacher education and certification standards for the state of Alabama. Pierce’s Ph.D. work from Columbia University as well as extensive correspondence from the 1950’s through the 1980’s is also available.
