Scope and Contents
This accession consists of a photocopy of Eddie Rickenbacker's speech, We Prayed, concerning his mission to the South Pacific in 1942. Rickenbacker and his B-17 crew were forced to land in the Pacific in 1942, and spent twenty-one days at sea. After the rescue and some rest, Rickenbacker continued his tour of duty, observing fighting in New Guinea and the Solomons.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
Received from John Bartek, a private in the Army Air Force who served as the flight mechanic with the crew assigned to fly Eddie Rickenbacker from Hawaii to the New Guinea headquarters of General Douglas MacArthur, and spent 3 weeks lost at sea.
