Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

Accession 07-020 contains biographical information about Brandt, and typed copies of letters he sent home during World War II.

Accession 17-060 includes two typed manuscripts by Brandt: a history of building in the United States, and a history of the Department of Building Sciences at Auburn University, which includes interviews with professors. It also contains a digital file on CD of typed letters he wrote home during World War II, lecture notes for classes he taught on the history of building, and audio recordings of his lectures on cassette tapes. The bulk is made up of 35mm slides used in classes (largely stock photographs of notable buildings), as well as slides of personal photographs. These include photographs taken at Fort Sumter and Charleston, South Carolina; a 1983 trip to Europe; and photographs of buildings designed by Brandt during his career as an architect and engineer (1950-1968).
