Scope and Contents

From the Accession:

This accession contains numerous documents relating to Ann Bowling Pearson's family history, including genealogical records and charts, scrapbooks, correspondence, wills, land deeds, and legal documents. Photographs dating from the 1800s to the late 2010s of various family members and friends are also included-notably several of Ann's maternal grandfather, Luther Noble Duncan, and President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Correspondence and documents from Luther Noble Duncan's time spent as Alabama Polytechnic Institute's President, as well as small personal items belonging to him such as cufflinks, are included too. In addition, there are documents and photographs relating to Ann Pearson's personal and professional life, including various manuscript drafts, diaries, postcard and stamp collections, and records from her time served on the local cemetery board and within multiple historical and genealogical societies. Other highlights of the accession include: a letter from Agatha Christie; correspondence from a European diplomat who visited Auburn; a letter mentioning the first time Mount Everest was surmounted; early photographs of Auburn Campfire Girls; a Luther Noble Duncan tapestry panel potentially created by API's School of Textile Engineering in the 1930s; and the last will and testament of Auburn's "Doc" Hodge Freeman Drake.
