Biographical / Historical
Edward R. Wren (1893-1932) was born in Talladega, Alabama and was a decorated World War I veteran. He attended Alabama Polytechnic Institute from 1914-1917 where he was a star athlete. In 1917 he enlisted as a private in Company B, 167th Infantry, Forty-second division of the American Expeditionary Force, Rainbow Division. He was wounded in action and decorated with the Distinguished Service Cross. He returned home, coached several sports teams, and served as the commander of the American Legion in Alabama.
