Scope and Contents
This accession consists of a 1930s photo album containing fifty-three photographic prints of African Americans, a letter from Hannah Walker of Bladon Springs, AL, to Mrs. Walker, February 11, 1873, a broadsheet titled 'To The Voters of Tuscaloosa County,' ca. 1870s-1880s, a program from the Annual Convention of the Alabama Equal Suffrage Association, Montgomery, Alabama April 8 - April 9, 1920, and six manuscript ledgers, ca. 1850s-1870s.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements
This accession is in poor to fragile condition. The ledgers have foxing and the spines are heavily worn along with water, light, mold, and insect damage present on the pages within. The other materials in this collection have some fading due to age and wear.
Existence and Location of Copies
The A. W. Coleman and Co. ledger from August 6, 1859 - January 1, 1863 and the photo album from the 1930s have been digitized.
Separated Materials
The documents from the original 18-011 accession are:
Letters from C. M. Hopson (1866) and early publications from Talladega College were separated into 'Collection of Talladega College Materials', Record Group 1259. The early publications were The Southern Sentinel, Vol. 1, No. 2, October 1877, Talladega College (school newspaper); Catalogue of the Preparatory and Normal Departments of Talladega College, 1871-1872; Students' Hand-book, Compliments of Y.M.C.A and Y.W.C.A., Talladega College, 1904-1905; and Talladega College, brochure [1885?].
Eight issues of The Halcyon and Tombeckbe Public Advertiser (1818) were added to 'Historical Newspaper Collection', Record Group 1231. Vol V, all labeled 'Secy of State'.
One issue of Niles Weekly Register (March 14, 1818) was added to 'Historical Newspaper Collection', Record Group 1231. New Series No. 3, Vol. II.
