From the Accession:

This accession contains documents created and collected by Alsobrook between 2000 and 2018. It comprises professional correspondence and subject files accumulated during his tenure as director of the History Museum of Mobile, records related to writing, editing, and publishing his book, Southside (2017), and personal correspondence files spanning 2000 to 2018. The History Museum of Mobile series contains correspondence, memoranda, briefing papers, calendars, notes, clippings and other printed materials, and documents Alsobrook's hiring and the operations, exhibits and programs of the Museum under his directorship. These records also describe the political conflict between the city council, the museum board, and the mayor's office that ultimately eliminated the museum as a city department in 2015. The Southside file details the evolution and writing of Southside: Eufaula's Cotton Mill Village and its People, 1890-1945 (Mercer University Press, 2017), and includes correspondence, email, drafts, notes, reviews, press releases, and contracts. The personal correspondence contains greeting cards, posted mail, and printed email and forum exchanges, as well as frequent clippings from news articles. Messages are from friends, family, acquaintances from Thailand Peace Corps training in 1967, and current and former colleagues in archival and academic professions. They discuss topics including current events and politics in the United States and at Auburn University, administrative events at the Presidential Libraries system and NARA, Auburn University football, personal news, interests in stamp and coin collecting, and various historical topics.
