The records of the Alabama Pharmaceutical Association is comprised of four divisions. The first division consists of subject files which are arranged alphabeticlly. Subjects include the American Pharmaceutical Association, conventions, drugstore lists, finances, laws, and legislation, membership, officares reports, and several fiels concerning the Women's Auxillary. A major portion of this division also consists of correspondence, which dates from 1932-1979. Of particular significance are historical fiels, which contain histories of individual pharmacies in Alabama. These historical files are arranged alphabetially by county. The second division consists of publications of the Alabama Pharmacy Association. These include: The "Alabama Pharmacist" (1964-1972), "Alabama Journal of Pharmacy" (1974, 1978-1980), "A Pharmacy Weekly" (1979), "Academy Reporter", Action in Pharmacy", "Beacon", "Executive Newsletter", "FDA Drug Bulletin", "Pharmacy Practice", and tthe "Southeastern Drug Journal". This division also contains convention programs of the Alabama Pharmacy Association which date from 1939-1969. Audiovisual materials comprise the third division. These materials consists of photographs, slides, a sound recording, and a videotape. The photographs have been divided into the following categories: Alabama Pharmacists, drug stores, exhibits, groups (1920-1966), meetings (1949-1962), office of the Alabama Pharmaceutical Associations, Presidents, Schools of Pharmacy, B.O. Shiflett, Women's Auxillary of Alabama Pharmaceutical Association, and Women in Pharmacy. The fourth division consists of ledgers, cash and day books, and notebooks. The ledgers within this division (1946-1962) contain records of disbursements by the Alabama Pharmaceutical Association, to pharmacies participating inthe VA Hometown Pharmacy Program. The cash and day books contain records of membership dues 1961-1969, and 1973. Also included are notebooks containing information on pharmacy in Alabama.
