Auburn Beautification Council Records
Scope and Contents
The Auburn Beautification Council Records consists of two record center boxes of materials. Included are the Council's constitution, minutes, membership records, bank statements, and other official records. The collections also contains records of ABC award winners and various projects undertaken by the organization from 1973-1984.

Biographical / Historical
Under the leadership of William "Red" Sugg, the Auburn Beautification Council was formed in 1972 to aid and assist, to foster and promote, the best interests of the residents of Auburn, Alabama by encouraging cleaning, repairing, and planting in order to make Auburn and Lee County a cleaner, healthier, safer, and more beautiful place. The Council also coordinates and fosters such projects of beautification and clean-up as may be carried on by other local groups, organizations, and social clubs. Membership is open to anyone interested in city clean-up and beautification projects. Eligible persons must complete an application, obtain the approval of the approval of the membership committee, and pay dues.
