Biographical / Historical
In 1836, Judge John Harper and Methodist Reverend Morgan Turrentine led a small group of settlers to settle the area that is now downtown Auburn. The first church was built around tht time, and the first chapel was built shortly therefter in 1850. Since then, numerous expansions and new buildings have been built surrounding the site of the original chapel. As Auburn has grown in size, so has the church; currently it boasts over 3,000 members.
