June Hood Carpenter graduated with a Home Economics/Human Science degree from Auburn Univetrsity in 1963. Although she went along with her parent's square dancing vacations, she preferred swimming to dancing. Ms. Carpenter later earned her masters at Mississippi State University and a doctorate from the University of Alabama in 1982. She also taught at Mississippi State University for many years before returing in 2013. Ms. Carpenter resides with her family in Starkville, Mississippi.
