Charlie J. Black Papers
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of Black's newspaper columns, copies of several letters and other documents, a copy of his book Afternthe Fact: 20/20 Hindsight, and a cassette tape recording of an interview in 1988. The collection contains materials spanning 1966-1991.

Biographical / Historical
Charlie J. Black was born in Beatrice, Alabama and attended public schools there. He graduated from Alabama State University and did graduate work at the Tuskegee Institute, Atlanta University, George Washington University and Catholic University. He taught at at least six public high schools across the U.S. Black also worked for the government in other capacities and in the private sector in insurance. His column "Upward Mobility" was featured in The Washington Provider, a black newspaper, for at least ten years. He has authored two books.
