Biographical / Historical
A Lousiana resident, Boyd moved to Auburn in 1883 when his father, David French Boyd, was appointed the president of the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama (Auburn University). He earned his B.S. in 1892 and his M.S. in 1895 from Auburn. In 1899, he completed his J.D. at Tulane University and was admitted to the Lousiana State Bar Association, but he never practiced. He worked for the Library of Congress from 1900 to 1904 and as a librarian for the Interstate Commerce Comission from 1905 to 1936.
