Forrest Grady Bridges (1894-1950), owner and operator of Notasulga's Alabama Poultry Farm (later renamed Bridges' Famous Chicks), pioneered breeding and hatching procedures which later became widely accepted in the poultry industry. In the early 1930s, he was appointed by Governor Bibb Graves to serve as sheriff of Macon County and was also elected to the Alabama House of Representatives. He served as mayor of Notasulga from 1928 to 1950, as well as the first president of the Alabama Poultry Association (now the Alabama Poultry and Egg Association) from 1947-1949, and as a State Senator from 1947-1950. He was inducted into the Alabama Poultry Hall of Fame posthumously in 1973.
