Scope and Contents

Contains notes, correspondence, government reports, and industry reports regarding imported fire ants. Joshua Blu Buhs assembled the contents of this collection for research purposes. Some of the items were originally in the possession of Murray Blum, an entomologist at the University of Georgia who was involved in the fire ant program from the late 1960s to the early 1980s.

A scholar of the overlap of politics, biology, and ecology in twentieth-century America, Joshua Blu Buhs has written articles that have appeared in Isis, Environmental History, The World of Genetics, and Journal of the History of Biology (Source: University of Chicago Press). He is author of The Fire Ant Wars: Nature, Science, and Public Policy in Twentieth-Century America.
