Biographical / Historical
James D. Caldwell was born in Union Springs, Alabama on 1 November 1906. He attended Union Springs High School, Washington and Lee University and Alabama Polytechnic Institute where he recieved a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering in 1929. He recieved his M.S. in Engineering in 1938 from Harvard. He served as a public sanitation engineer in Haiti and the Dominican Republic in the 40s, 50s and 60s.
