Biographical / Historical
Clyde Hull Cantrell was born at Caroleen, North Carolina on September 23, 1906. He was the son of James Volney and Sarah Nancy Florence (Hull) Cantrell. He received his A.B., M.A., and B.L.S. degrees from the University of North Carolina, in 1933, 1936, and 1937 respectively. He also studied at West Virginia University, 1941-42, and the University of Illinois, 1950-1951. In 1960 he was awarded the Ph.D. from the University of Illinois. He married Ethel Marie Williams on June 5, 1940.
