Biographical / Historical
Castanoli was born in Daphne, Alabama and graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute in 1913. An innovative mining expert and civil engineer, he designed the world's longest tunnel, many mining processes, suspension bridges and many other projects worldwide. He established a scholarship fund and an endowed chair of Italic languages at Auburn University.
