Biographical / Historical
Jesse H. (Jack) Vardaman Jr., lived in Alpharetta, GA and passed away on Spetemeber 15, 2020 at the age of 95. Born in Millersburg, Ohio on Novemeber 4, 1924, Jack attended and graduated from Bessemer High School in Alabama.
At 18, Jack joined the US Navy, earning the rank of Petty Officer, Second Class Sonarman. Jack served the country he loved, fighting in both World War II and in Korea. He earned several medals and accolades including the American Area Victory Medal WWII, the Phillippine Liberation Medal, the Asisatic-Pacific Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
Jack graduated from the University of Georgia in 1954, and went on to work for the Internal Revenue Service until his retirement in 1985.
Jack was a dedicated genealogist. Because of his dedication and love for genealogy, he was known to be one of the foremost Vardaman family historians. His talent led him to meet numerous families and fellow historians over the years with whom he formed close relations.

Series I-V represent the major familial lines associated with the Vardaman family, while Series VI-VII represent J.H Vardaman's personal geneaological research for his friends and family, as well as his map collection. Sub-Series represent smaller, related families.
