Biographical / Historical
The Highway Research Center (HRC) was established at Auburn University in 1985. The mission of the HRC is to support Alabama’s highway industry through a coordinated research program. Research activities are coordinated with the Alabama Department of Transportation, regional and national research programs (NCHRP, FHWA, AASHTO), county and municipal agencies, material suppliers, and contractors. The HRC's advisory committee guides strategic plans and center policies, and is appointed by the Dean of Engineering.
The HRC is located in the John M. Harbert III Engineering Center, as part of the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering at Auburn University. The Ginn College of Engineering offers undergradate, masters, and doctoral programs in civil engineering.
