Biographical / Historical

George John Cottier was born in Missouri in 1908, and held desgrees from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (later Auburn University) and the University of Missouri. He was a member of the Auburn faculty from 1930-1977, he was a professor of Poultry Science and professor of Pathology. He was active in poultry research, and a member of many professional and honorary societies.

The Alabama Polytechnic Institute (A.P.I.) chapter of Kappa Sigma began in 1900 and the local chapter was called Beta Eta. The old fraternity house was located at the corner of Hemlock and Thach streets. The house is no longer in existence nor is the fraternity active on campus.
