In 1984, the Alabama Fisheries Worker Association formed the Alabama Fisheries Association. It was incorporated as a non-profit educational organization dedicated to the development, conservation, and wise utilization of commercial and recreational fisheries within the state of Alabama. Membership is open to anyone interested in fisheries, and the annual meetings are held at various sites across the state.
