This collection contains four letters and three envelopes. The majority of the letters are addressed to E. B. Jennings, who is the New London, Connecticut based client and friend. One letter is to Mrs. C. M. Jennings from A. [Agnes] Paine, Sidney's wife.

Biographical / Historical

Sidney Brinton Paine was born in 1818 in Georgia and died in 1905 in Tuskegee, Alabama. He was a county and state official, lawyer, and a slave owner. He also served as a captain in the 61st Alabama Infantry Regiment of the Confederate Army.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements

This collection is in fair condition. The envelopes are very delicate, but the letters themselves are in good condition with a some discoloration.
