Biographical / Historical

Ralph Brown Draughon Sr., the tenth president of Auburn University, was the son of John W. Draughon and Vassie L. Draughon. Before becoming president, Draughon worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He married Caroline Marshall and they had two children, Ralph Jr. and Ann. Ralph Jr. became a historian whose research on William Lowndes Yancey and the Civil War is well documented in this collection. He also researched Auburn history and the town's historic homes. Ann Draughon would go on to marry Tom Cousins, a real estate developer working in Atlanta.
