Scope and Contents

This collection contains the correspondence of the Head of the Department of History from 1976 to 1993. It includes inter-departmental correspondence and memoranda, student requests for references, and other correspondence related to the administration of the department.

This collection also contains photographic prints and negatives from 1970s-2000s; postcards and holiday cards; cassette tapes; faculty meeting minutes from 1976-2013; history professor tenure, promotion, and hiring documents from 1970s-2013; strategic plans; studies; program information; correspondence on court cases; minority reports and programs; newsletters; and graduate and undergraduate student documents.

Accession 02-072 is open for research.

The majority of accession 23-026 is open for research with the exception of boxes 1, 3, and 4 which is permission from the head of the history department only.

Biographical / Historical

The Department of History at Auburn University was established in 1891. Today, it is one of the departments in the College of Liberal Arts.
