Biographical / Historical
Dr. Pulaski H. "Pugh" Brown (1833-1904) and Dr. Josephus Simmons Beard (1853-1940) ran their medical practice in Troy, Alabama, right above Goldthwaite's Drug Store. They both graduated from the University of New York, Brown in 1854 and Beard in 1876. The two physicians primarily served the African American community.

Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements
Ledgers are extremely fragile and have insect and water damage along with some discoloration. They need to be handled with care due to their fragile state.
General
These daybooks were at one point cataloged by accident. The catalog record has since been suppressed, however, the call number stickers remain since it would cause damage to remove or alter them.
