Biographical / Historical

"Sunny" Opal Virginia Combs Fields attended West Tennessee State Teacher's College. She loved reading and writing poetry but was said to be very secretive about her own work. A mutual love of poetry is what led to her close friendship with "Ted" Theodore C. Hoepfner, an Auburn University English professor who wrote to her for several decades with poetry as a central theme of their conversations.
