This collection consists of a 104 page manuscript diary that covers the period from August 1861 through June 1862 and includes entries made in the states of Wisconsin, Missouri, and Mississippi.

Biographical / Historical
Edwin Farley served in Company K, 8th Wisconsin, and later was an officer in the 3rd U.S Colored Cavalry. Farley moved to Paducah, Kentucky after the war; was Deputy U.S. Marshall 1875-1878; Collector of Internal Revenue 1883; Postmaster of Paducah 1892; State Treasurer of Kentucky, 1907; Deputy Commander of Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) in Kentucky, 1914; and married a Kentucky woman in 1871.
