Biographical / Historical
Lee Academy was initially founded as the Presbyterian Day School in 1965 as a response to desegregation requirements set by the federal government in 1964. The school's name was changed to Lee Academy in 1967 after the creation of the Lee County Educational Foundation. Lee Academy was located at the corner of Drake Street and Gay Street in Auburn, Alabama. The school relocated to a larger facility on Glenn Avenue in the fall of 1969. In 1981, Lee Academy merged with Scott Preparatory School of Opelika and was renamed Lee-Scott Academy. School presently resides at Academy Drive in Auburn.
