Biographical / Historical

David Housel graduated from Auburn University with a degree in journalism in 1969. He worked in the athletic department's ticket office from 1970 to 1972, and taught journalism at Auburn from 1972 to 1980. He rejoined the athletic department as an assistant sports information director in 1981, and served as assistant athletic director in 1985, and was elevated to the position of athletic director in 1994. He served in that capacity until January 2005.
