Jerome G. Kuderna was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 9, 1893. At the age of fifteen he began his studies at the Lewis Institute in Chicago (1908-1910). Kuderan was accepted at the University of Michigan in 1910 where he majored in chemistry and physics. From 1912 to 1914, he taught physics part time at Ann Arbor High School. He graduated from Michigan in 1914 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. After graduation he became head of the Detroit University School in the fall of 1914 and a year later taught mathematics at Culver Military Academy in Culver, Indiana. In September of 1916, he undertook graduate work in education at the University of Chicago. He received a Master of Arts degree in Education from the college in June of 1917. The same year he accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Education at Illinois State Normal School, where he remained until 1922. In September of 1922, Kuderna taught part time as a physics teacher at the Lincoln School (exact whereabouts unknown). From 1924 to 1929, he taught education courses part time at Teachers College Columbia University. In 1929 he accepted a position as Professor of Education at Alabama Polytechnic Institute (presently Auburn University). He continued to teach at Auburn until his retirement in 1962. Jerome G. Kuderna died in May of 1980 in Modesto, California.
