Biographical / Historical

McArthur commanded the 12th Illinois Infantry during the Civil War and eventually rose to brigadier general. In that capacity, he commanded a May, 1864, expedition from Vicksburg to Yazoo City, Mississippi, with several skirmishes along the way.
