Scope and Contents
This collection documents the existence of the Home Demonstration Clubs offered by the Extension Service through one of its agents and past presidents (1949-50). Collection includes home demonstration publications, author's history of home demonstration in Etowah County, Ala., and her study of world-wide practices re: outdoor plumbing. Also includes three issues of The Homemaker of the National Extension Homemakers Council: February, October, December 1984.

Biographical / Historical
The Alabama Council of Home Demonstration Clubs was organized in 1926 with 38 counties represented. McClendon was an Etowah County, Ala., home demonstration club member. She served as president of the Alabama Council of Home Demonstration Clubs, 1949-50. Each county had a Home Demonstration agent and Mrs McClendon was the agent for the Duck Springs Home Demonstration Club. The agent gave demonstrations on new and improved techniques of clothing production, home management, child care, family life and food preparation.
