This collection consists materials from the Waid and Griffith families of Blount County. Included is the personal materials of County Judge L.P. Waid, genealogy research on the Waid family, and Griffith family business ledgers.

Biographical / Historical
On July 2, 1953, Nina Louise Griffith married Judge Luther Pinkney Waid Jr., joining the Griffith and Waid families. In 1976, the couple moved into the historic Griffith family home in Guntersville, Alabama, to care for Louise Griffith’s mother, Almedia Wallace Griffith. After her husband died in 1982 and Almedia Griffith died in 1993, Louise Griffith continued to live in the historic home. In 1995, Louise married Sam Alldrege, changing her name to Louise Griffith Alldrege.
