Scope and Contents

This collection consists of a Voters and Party Affiliation record book for 1897, the bottom half of a poster depicting "Members of the House of Representatives, Fifty-Fourth Congress" including Alabama's Third District Congressman George Paul Harrison, and two post office pamphlets with the resignation and recommendation of Postmaster with George Paul Harrison's signature. Voter lists are from Barbour County, Bullock County, Coffee County, Dale County, Geneva County, Henry County, Lee County, and Russell County in Alabama from 1897. The contents of each list from their respective counties includes the name, occupation, and party of each registered voter.

Biographical / Historical

George Paul Harrison was a member of the House of Representatives, Fifty-Fourth Congress, in 1897. He was the Representative for Alabama's third congressional district, which encompassed Barbour County, Bullock County, Coffee County, Dale County, Geneva County, Henry County, Lee County, and Russell County. The items in this collection might possibly have been in Harrison's possession at some point due to his name appearing on some of the documents.
