Biographical / Historical
The Limestone County Council of Home Demonstration Clubs (which adopted its present name in 1967) is a coordinating council made up of members of a group of smaller home demonstration/ extension homemakers clubs in Limestone County, Alabama, in the Tennessee Valley area. In 1975, there were 22 member clubs in the County Council. The Council was formed to coordinate the service and social activities of the more local councils. It was initiated, like the local clubs and the state organization, by the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service. The latter served its direct ties with the state council in 1972 as a consequence of a desegregation suit against the Cooperative Extension Service.
