Earlon McWhorter Papers
Scope and Contents
This collection contains a transcript and tapes of an interview with Earlon McWhorter conducted by Dwayne Cox, Head of Special Collections and Archives at Auburn University, on January 23, 2009. In this interview, McWhorter discusses his appointment to the board, his service as a trustee, disagreements among the faculty, board, and alumni, and efforts to resolve them. Generally, the interview covers events during the administrations of Auburn Presidents William Muse, William Walker, and Jay Gogue.

Biographical / Historical
A native of Alabama, Earlon McWhorter graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor's degree in building science. He subsequently served on the board of directors of Auburn's Alumni Association. In 2001, McWhorter joined to university's board of trustees. Eventually, he became president pro tem of that body.
