Scope and Contents
This collection includes a diary written by Achsah Eugenia Scott. It begins in 1860, when she would have been approximately 16 years old, and ends in 1868, the year that records indicate she married a William Marcellus Boswell. A typed transcription of the diary is also included.

Biographical / Historical
Achsah Eugenia Scott was born ca. 1844 in Lee County, Alabama. In 1860, she would have been approximately 16 years old. On December 3, 1868, she married William Marcellus Boswell in Russell County, Alabama. Achsah spent several years as a rural school teacher. Page 92 of the 1860 Macon County, Northern Division, Auburn Post Office census records lists individuals who were possibly her family members, inclulding a 52-year-old Rebecca Scott (head of household) and a 19-year-old Ashbury. Achsah was the great-grandmother of Jane Boswell McDonald.
