Biographical / Historical

John Mouton holds a Bachelor's degree in building construction from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and a master's in building construction from the University of Florida. He worked in the construction industry from 1971-1985, and taught at Virginia Tech from 1958-1988, before taking a faculty position in building science at Auburn University in 1992. His term as University Senate Chair from 2002-2003 coincided with a turbulent time in Auburn University history, including Auburn's SACS accreditation being put on probation. From 2003-2008, he served as senior advisor to the university president, primarily Ed Richardson.
