This collection is composed of correspondence that Mitchell Sharpe initiated during research on his thesis, The Novels of Waldo Frank: A Search for the American Form in the 1950's, and later during his research on rocket engine development and space flight in the 1960's and 1970's.

Biographical / Historical
Born in 1924, Mitchell R. Sharpe, a writer and researcher, was associated with the space center in Huntsville, Alabama during the 1960's and 1970's. His several books on space technology and astronautics include "The Rocket Team" (co-authored with Frederick Ordway) which traces the work of German rocket scientist Wernher Von Braun and his associates from Peenemunde, the site of the rocket research laboratory in Nazi Germany, to the space center in Huntsville, Alabama where the rocket team eventually worked on Project Saturn.
