Historical Records Survey in Alabama Local Histories Collection
This collection contains typescript copies of six county histories written for various publications between 1870 and 1905. Copies made by WPA-HRS workers from documents provided by Alabama Department of Archives and History.
The Josephs Land: Ephraim or Great Britain, Manasseh or United States Manuscript
Consists of a manuscript in which Robert T. Knox argues that the British and Anglo-Saxon Americans are, respectively, the remnants of the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh, two of the lost ten tribes of Israel. Knox also traces the descent of George Washington, Robert E. Lee and Queen Victoria from Adam and Eve.
Mary E. Reese Papers
Consists of Mary E. Reese's handwritten, bound copy of her "Early History of Auburn," one original circular for the Auburn Masonic Female College dated 1852, a photocopy of the legislative act that incorporated Auburn, and a note about the manuscript from Kate Lane, wife of Petrie.

Consists of correspondence between Frances Heyn (widow of Anton) and Fred Edmiston (Auburn University gifts and exchange librarian) regarding Anton Heyn’s library.
Samuel Wallace Welch Papers
Consists of a scrapbook with newspaper clippings regarding the Spanish Influenza epidemic of 1918 taken from American newspapers and magazines. Includes a typescript report from the State Board of Health Officer overseeing the infirmary at the Alabama Polytechnic Institute (presently Auburn University) during the epidemic from the fall of 1918 to the spring of 1919.
