Accession 98-118: Addition to Collection, 1995 - 1997

The Auburn University Family Campaign originated out of a massive fundraising effort on the part of Auburn University in the mid-1990's known as "Campaign Auburn: the Next Generation". The university's goal was to raise $175 million from private sources by December 1996 to improve facilities and fund academic programs. Initiated in January 1995, the Auburn University Family Campaign's objective was to encourage university faculty and staff to participate in "Campaign Auburn" by contributing to undergraduate, graduate, and library endowment programs. Dr. Flynt served as Co-Chairman of the committee along with Athletic Director, David Housel. Under their leadership, the Auburn university Family Campaign raised $2 million, enabling "Campaign Auburn" to reach its goal. In November 1995, vice president of University Outreach, David Wilson formed the Committee on Outreach Assessment and appointed Dr. Flynt as chairman. The committee's objective was to develop criteria for evaluating and assessing faculty outreach for purposes of tenure and promotion. After a year of deliberation, the committee presented its recommendations to Vice President Wilson in October 1996. The University Senate accepted the committee's final report in July 1997.
