Scope and Contents

From the Series:

This series includes correspondence between Kathryn Tucker Windham and NAPPS and brochures and materials which chronicle the growth of NAPPS of which Windham is one of the founders. Among the several copies of The Yarnspinner, the official newsletter of NAPPS, is the first edition, 1974, with an attached cover letter to Windham. Also included in this series is a letter of 1975 from Jimmy Smith, NAPPS chairman, to Alan Jabbour, National Endowment for the Arts, which states how the idea for a storytelling festival was born in 1973 and how it was the first event of its type in the United States. This letter also relates the founding of NAPPS, refers to Windham, and establishes the association's projected goals and objectives.
