Newsclippings, 1987

 File — Box: 1, Folder: 28
Identifier: 89-43

Scope and Contents

From the Series:

Photos here are mostly from 1978, with the exception of one black and white 8" X 11" from 1975 (?) of Windham, Dr. Allan Jackson, and Jim Ballentine and a 1972 black and white 5 1/2" X 4 3/4" photo of Windham during an installation of Earl Tucker into the Journalism Hall of Fame, Auburn, Alabama. There are three color snapshots of Windham taken during the 1978 Storytelling Festival in Jonesboro, Tennessee.

Arranged chronologically, newsclippings included here range from 1979, with a laminated clipping regarding Windham's honorary doctorate from Huntingdon College from which Windham graduated in 1939, to 1988 clippings.

Of interest in the 1984/85 file are clippings from the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesboro, Tennessee.

Included in the 1986 file is an article in The Miami Herald entitled "The Storytellers" about Windham, Verta Mae Grosvenor, Jo Carson, and Carmen Delzell. A note to Windham from the author of the article accompanies the clipping.

A copy of a magazine article in Back Home in Kentucky about the Corn Island Storytelling Festival in Louisville, Kentucky is in the 1988 file. Also included is a feature in The Thomasville Times referring to Windham and musician Osceloa Green Hague.

Importantly, the newsclippings here highlight appearances and engagements not described in the brochures off this addition.
