Scope and Contents

From the Accession:

There are three major categories of material in this addition to the papers. These are manuscript materials; correspondence; and items related to Ms. Windham's activities as author and storyteller. The manuscripts include drafts of mainly recent works such as Odd Egg Editor and A Sampling of Selma Stories, although some earlier draft works are present. The correspondence is principally personal in nature and comes from friends, fans, readers, local officials and others. There is a group of letters from children who have read her books or have heard her tell stories to them. A small amount of letters are from persons concerned with the business aspects of her work. The last category contains a variety of items related to her busy schedule of activities. It includes clippings, programs, schedules of events, annotated calendars, and many miscellaneous items. The latter includes cards, press passes, and many others. Although dated items in this accession extend from 1974 to 1994, the majority of materials are from the years 1990 through 1993.
