Scope and Contents
This accession is divided into five series: Scholarly Work, Sports Organizations, Lawsuits, Professional Academic Positions, and Personal. Each section documents Dr. Davenport’s personal life as well as her professional life through correspondence, written notes, photographs, newspaper clippings, and memorabilia. Within Dr. Davenport’s research for her dissertation, original interviews of great tennis players such as Billie Jean Moffitt (also known as Billie Jean King) and Margaret DuPont exist in paper form.

The donors of Joanna Davenport Papers request the acknowledgement of Dr. Davenport’s intense research in the life of Miss Eleonora Sears. Dr. Davenport began her research in the early 1970s and continued until her death in 2002.
