Description of Bory de Saint Vincent's "herbier cryptogamique" (collection of cryptogamae)
Scope and Contents
These documents were written after Jean Baptiste Bory de Saint Vincent's death in 1846. His eldest daughter, Augustine (1801-1850) married M. Morel (Morell) in 1829. She was married a second time to Theodore Korab Morawski (alternatively spelled Moranski or Morarska) on September 2, 1848. She died on November 18, 1850. The majority of the documents relate to the sale of Bory de Saint Vincent's collection of cryptogamae, plants which reproduce by spores. The collection was to be sold on May 17, 1847. Manuscript notes by Camille Montagne in the Museum of Natural History in Paris show that the collection was divided up between multiple buyers, including the Museum and Montagne himself.
